Support for people with disabilities
- Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities
Botesdale and Rickinghall Pre-school are committed to meeting the needs of all children in our care, we provide an environment in which all children with special educational needs (SEN) are supported to reach their full potential. We ensure our provision is inclusive to all children with special educational needs. We identify the specific needs of children with special educational needs and meet those needs through a range of SEN strategies. We have a number of staff members who have been at the setting for a very long time and so have lots of experience with working with children with different SEN needs. We have a very experienced SENCO (18 years at the setting) and Deputy SENCO who make sure all staff understand each child's individual needs and work closely with the child's family and their key person, they will also identify if any additional training is needed for children with SEND.
We work in partnership with parents and work in collaboration with the local authority and outside professional's,we will offer support to parents if they need help filling out various forms for example an EHC and we will also offer to accompany them to appointment's to see outside professionals and also offer transport if needed.
We have a very strong link with the catchment primary school where we take the children for regular visits to help them have a smooth transition into school, we also have transition meetings where we invite parents, reception class teachers and outside professional's to make sure all the needs of an individual child will still be meet once they have moved on.
