THE CENTRE, THE DRIFT, NACTON ROAD Rated 5 out of 5
My daughter and I researched day centres for my husband who has Alzheimers and although day centres in Nursing homes are there, it was not for Allan. He is still very active although gets totally confused and of course his memory is not good. I need to take him out at least half a day as he does nothing but sit in a chair and sleep. He doesn't watch TV anymore or read. He used to love all the sport on the TV but alas, cannot hear properly or understand what they are saying. He was so good at DIY but of course not now. The Centre was absolutely ideal for him and he has now been four times and loves it. The rooms are clean, tidy and spacious. The staff so caring and pleasant. Allan cant wait to get back so we are trying to arrange for him to go Wednesdays as well. Of course this gives me a much needed break from the frustration of trying to cope with a person with this dreadful illness, especially when I am 80 years old.

Home from Home Rated 5 out of 5
My daughter, who has severe autism has been going along to the New Skill Centre for over three years now.   One of the difficulties with my daughter is keeping her occupied as she power houses through most skills quickly,  which you were hoping would last much longer. This has not presented any difficulties for the New Skill Centre as she has and still enjoys lots of activities new and old alike whilst she is there.  Impressively, during the Covid lockdown they organised regular Skype activity sessions to home and sent out activities to keep her going.  This lifeline, for those she lives with, has been vital. I cannot thank the New Skill Centre enough for the extra support and time they have given to us, her parents, during some of her difficult times.  This includes supplying a friendly and appropriate outreach service one evening a week to take her for a meal out and then supporting her at her social club, giving me a much needed break in the evening once a week.  The New Skill Centre is a down to earth, friendly home from home support service that I cannot recommend highly enough.
