Elmsett Pre-school Playgroup

Pre-School Playgroup

Elmsett Pre-School is a small, friendly rural setting that has been established in Elmsett since the 1970’s to help children learn and develop through play and structured activities and learning opportunities. Elmsett pre-school is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance (PLA). Elmsett pre-school aims to: •Provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age. •Work in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop. •Offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity. •Provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment. Play based activities and learning opportunities are provided in accordance with requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS). Our curriculum also encompasses Every Child Matters which promotes the 5 following outcomes: Be Healthy, Stay Safe, Enjoy & Achieve, Make a Positive Contribution and Achieve Economic Well Being. We are located at Elmsett & Aldham Village Hall, which is situated on the meadow, by the local Primary School. Every session there are a variety of toys / activities available for the children to choose from, within the main hall area, we also have our own large outside play area, which allows “free flow play”. We also regularly take the children out to Buckles Wood, which is situated directly behind the Village Hall or down to the School’s allotment area. Our staff meet statutory requirements in respect of childcare qualifications and an enhanced DBS this is obtained for anyone working directly with children. Regular training is completed for Safeguarding Children (child protection) and Food Hygiene, and at least one member of staff has a first aid training certificate. Additional training is also undertaken, such as additional needs, music and dance. The pre-school operates a key person system. Each member of staff has a small group of children for whom she/he is particularly responsible. Your child’s key person will be the person who works with you to help your child settle into the group, and to ensure that the pre-school provides activities to meet their particular needs and interests. Your child’s key person will work with you to develop a ‘Learning Journey’ record of your child’s learning and development and plan their future learning (next steps) throughout their time in preschool. As a registered charity the running of our Pre-school is overseen by a Management Committee made up of parent volunteers and we encourage all new parents to get involved.
