Continence Service (East Coast Community Healthcare CIC)

Continence care in the East Coast Community Healthcare area is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team for men and women with urinary and faecal continence problems. This team includes a GP, District Nurse, Health Visitor, Learning Disability Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and an Enuresis Doctor or Continence Team. There are 2 Continence Specialist Nurses, 2 Staff Continence Nurses and 2 Continence Health Care Assistants covering the North and South of the PCT.

Products for the containment of incontinence can only be provided following an assessment using the approved tool and documentation. Interventions to promote continence should be tried first where appropriate.

Patients will receive a comprehensive assessment of their needs. An individualised programme of care will then be discussed and agreed. A treatment or management plan will then be implemented.
