Kurling Club at Ipswich County Library

A brand new sport is taking off in Ipswich with the launch of the town’s very first Kurling Club at the Ipswich County Library in Northgate Street.

The game, which is based on the Winter Olympic version, is currently going down a storm as part of the ActivIpswich sports project. ActivIpswich is a project that is designed to encourage older adults to get involved with sport and is a partnership between ActivLives and Ipswich Borough Council.

Kurling is a new sport that is particularly accessible for the 60+ age group – the ‘stones’ are sent towards the target with a special stick so there is no need to bend down low to play.

If you would like to learn a new game in a friendly, social atmosphere just drop in on a Friday and give it a try or call for more information.
