St Vincent de Paul Society

The aim of the St Vincent de Paul Society is the same today as it was at its conception in the 19th Century: to tackle poverty in all its forms through the provision of practical assistance to those in need.

Notes

The concept of need is broader than financial hardship, so visiting the sick, the lonely, the addicted, the imprisoned and those suffering from disabilities form a large proportion of the Society's activity. The Society is active in 140 countries and has nearly 600,000 members worldwide. By joining an SVP group you can help to support individuals, families and local communities in need. Volunteering with the SVP is an opportunity to become part of a network of dedicated people making a difference to people’s lives. You can volunteer for a whole range of activities with the SVP, depending on your interests.
