Childminder

I provide childminding service to children 0-5+ and school pick-ups and drop-offs to primary school children from/to St Helen's primary, Ipswich.

I provide breakfast (to early start contracts only) snacks and lunch.

Indoor and outdoor activities to suit children's interests and meet their needs include (but it's not limited to) role play, soft corner with cushions and books, little people, puzzles and board games, arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, singing, musical instruments, dancing, heuristic play.

Visits to local parks, library and playgroups.

Walks to town, community garden and farm.

Chance to ride on a bike trailer!

I hold a degree in Psychology and a level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Early Years Education and Care.

Before and between my own children I have had professional experience in both early years and primary school settings.

I am passionate about working with children which I find both fun and extremely rewarding.

My childminding practice draws upon a mixture of personal attitudes, early years knowledge and skills, educational values and professional experience in working with children. I inform my practice by selecting, adapting and putting into practice a variety of methods and strategies from different pedagogic approaches which I feel in line with my values and beneficial to children's learning. To mention a few is the Montessori ethos on autonomy and independence, Bowlby's attachment theory, Scandinavian Forest School approach, Danish Hygge and the Reggio-Emilia involvement in community life.

I am up to date with insurances, safeguarding, paediatric first aid training, food hygiene and GDPR regulations.

I have also attended and shall continue to attend continuous professional development courses on a variety of topics to support my knowledge and understanding of child development and professional obligations.
