Christians Against Poverty Suffolk Coastal Debt Centre is a Free Debt Counselling Service run by Christians Against Poverty (CAP) who are a Nationwide Award-Winning Charity. When you call our free number 0800 328 0006, you'll speak to someone from out New Enquiries team. They'll arrange an initial appointment with a CAP Debt Coach from your local area. Here at CAP Suffolk Coastal Debt Centre we cover the area from just outside Ipswich up to the borders of Waveney and as far back as the A140.

At the First Appointment your local Debt Coach will meet you and get to know you before starting to help you organise the search for any paperwork you have to do with your debts. These will need to be gathered ready for our second visit.

Our second visit is the Fact Find Appointment where we sort through all the paperwork and send it off to our head office. Our trained debt counsellors will work out a realistic budget that prioritises your essential bills and will negotiate affordable payments with each creditor and attempt to stop unfair interest and charges where possible. They will then draw up your own personal budget and the best route out of debt for you.

The next appointment is the Budget Appointment. It is at this appointment that your Debt Coach will then explain the budget and the payments you may need to make into what we call a CAP Plan. When a CAP Plan is set up for you, you will need to make one monthly payment into your CAP Plan to cover your bills and debts. CAP will then distribute this on your behalf. You can also build up savings through your CAP Plan.  At the end of this appointment you get to decide if you want to work with us using this plan. You are in total control of what happens to your money and can withdraw from our services at any stage. You will have a Debt Advice team at CAP’s head office to support as well as your Debt Coach and a Befriender.

At every appointment you will be offered prayer for your situation however it is your choice if you would like this or not. Please if you need help call us on 0800 328 0006. capdebthelp.org

“I found the CAP Money Course a great tool to help with budgeting. It has helped me have control over my finances rather than them having control over me.”  Kate
