An Overview of the School
Farlingaye High School is committed to providing high quality teaching and learning provision. We have a range of interventions across the school to support children with special educational needs.
Identifying students’ additional needs
At different times in their education, a student may experience a special need or disability. Typically, this may result in a significant difficulty with regard to learning relative to the majority of other students. They might also have a disability, which prevents or hinders them from accessing educational opportunities compared to others in mainstream classes. Where a learner has an identified special educational need, we will offer provision that supports the student in accessing a normally differentiated curriculum. Parents/carers are informed termly of their child’s progress and there are regular opportunities for discussion. A student’s lack of progress may be for many reasons and it is not always the case that these students have a special educational need. These students may just need a little extra help and support at times to get back on track.

The school can request additional help from the Local Authority for students who have a specific SEND need such as autistic spectrum disorder, visual or hearing impairment, social, mental and health issues and speech, language and communication difficulties.
