U3A Newmarket (University of the Third Age)

Newmarket u3a provides opportunities, generally in the afternoon, for education and recreation for mature people no longer in full time employment or people of retirement/semi-retirement age. Subjects covering a wide range of interests to members and  the activities are held at various venues in the area.

Anyone with an interest or skill they would like to develop is encouraged to start a new group for other interested members.

Members are also encouraged to give talks etc if they wish to expand the subjects covered by the group they join. Members may participate in joining various groups during the month.

Activities include Monthly Speaker’s Meeting on the last Monday of the  month.  At present there are bi-monthly E-News letters emailed to members and delivered as hard copy to those not on the internet.  The group also has a Facebook page,  open to members.

Current groups include: Antiques; Art Appreciation; Bridge; Camera Club; Carpet Bowls; Discussion; Gardening; History; History of Science; Lunch Club; Model Making; Music Appreciation; Realm of Books; Scrabble; Walking; Wings, Wheels and Water.

Venues and times vary and are shown on each group section on the website.
