Acute Oncology Service (James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust)

General Details
The James Paget Acute Oncology Service provides a haematology and an oncology - 24 hour nurse-led telephone advice services for haematology / oncology patients who may be experiencing complications from treatment or from the cancer itself.
Haematology patients calling the Haematology AOS line, have direct access to the haematology ward, when required, or to medical advice by a local haematologist on call.
Oncology patients with a suspicion of neutropenic sepsis, may be admitted via a dedicated rapid access pathway to a general medical ward or A&E. Any other AOS presentations are managed by the on call medical team / A&E. During working hours, AOS cases may be seen in the chemotherapy unit, unless direct admission is required.
Interpretation and Translation services are available through this service.
