Special Olympics Suffolk is the local branch of the Special Olympics movement and is affiliated to Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB). Special Olympics Suffolk is a wholly volunteer-led organisation, that provides an umbrella body for local sports providers working with athletes with an intellectual (learning) disability.
Currently we work with local athletes, coaches and providers within artistic gymnastics, athletics, badminton, boccia, football and alpine skiing. Key partner clubs and organisations for us include: ActivLives, Orwell Panthers Athletics Club, Waveney Gymnastics Club, Wots Up and Avenues East.
Our partners provide a variety of all-year round sports training programmes for our athletes in Ipswich and Lowestoft. In addition to this, Special Olympics Suffolk support our partners in hosting annual tournaments and competitions in athletics, artistic gymnastics, badminton and boccia. These events provide athletes with access to the Special Olympics competition pathway.
