Youth Dinghy Open Sessions for Disabled Sailors

logo

These are Open Sessions for children and young adults to enable people with disabilities of all kinds to go dinghy sailing. They may pursue this through training to formal qualifications or simply be taken for a sail around the safe, enclosed waters of Alton Water reservoir by qualified instructors and volunteer helpers.

No previous sailing experience is required as Royal Yachting Association Instructors are on hand at all times.

Waterproof clothing can be provided and bouyancy aids are provided for all sailors. The specially designed boats are unsinkable and un-capsizeable and a safety boat is in attendence at all times.

Sailors are also encouraged to 'learn the ropes' by getting involved in the rigging of the dinghies for use.
