4YP (For Children & Young People) - Counselling
We offer short term counselling to young people aged 12-25 to support emotional wellbeing.
Each young person has an assessment to ensure this is the right support for them, and to determine how we (and other agencies) may support the young person in addition to counselling.
We provide one session per week for an average of 6-8 weeks. This is flexible, tailored to the needs of individuals.
Our counselling service is confidential and delivered in a safe, comfortable environment with qualified professional Counsellors.
This may be offered at 4YP (14 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich), or in one of the other locations where we work, including many schools.
Counsellors follow British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) guidelines.

- Notes
Our counselling can support young people with a wide variety of issues. For example:
- anger;
- depression;
- lack of confidence;
- low self esteem;
- poor body image;
- bereavement;
- family and relationship issues;
- anxiety.
Young people receiving counselling can benefit from improved emotional health, confidence, resilience, and communication.
This helps young people live healthier, happier lives, stay safe, make informed choices, move away from harmful/risk-taking behaviour, and have better opportunities to enter pathways to education and work. We receive a lot of feedback from family members who tell us their whole household benefits from the improvements to young people's health, e.g. better communication and sibling relationships.
