Suffolk Link Scheme

Short-break care for children with disabilities.

Have you ever thought you might like to help a family in your local community?

Do you have a few hours to spare on a regular basis?

Would you enjoy supporting a disabled child so that they can take part in an everyday activity?

If the answer to these questions is yes, perhaps you could consider becoming a LINK Carer or Befriender by regularly sharing a few hours of your time. It makes a big difference to the life of a disabled child and their family.

If you are over 16 years old, you can do this as LINK Befriender, simply through helping the child or young person enjoy a favourite activity like swimming or football, or by taking them to the park or the shops. Alternatively, LINK Carers offer time in their own homes on a regular basis. It doesn't always have to be overnight stays, but if you do have suitable accommodation, perhaps you could have a disabled child to stay with you for, say, a weekend each month, or during school holidays.
