Ipswich Silver Spinners Majorette Troupe
The Ipswich Silver Spinners was the first majorettes troupe to be formed in Ipswich. The troupe has been established since 1982. It is run on a totally voluntary basis and relies on donations from displays for the majority of the equipment costs.
The Silver Spinners are affiliated to the United Kingdom Federation of Majorettes (UKFM), girls and boys take part in winter competitions between September and April. In April the UKFM hold their Nationals at Pontins, Camber Sands.
Throught the UKFM, girls and boys can be trained in the art of baton twirling etc. There are many grades to be obtained:
Twirling badges: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Supreme One, Supreme, Two, Supreme Three, Supreme Four, Supreme Five and diploma in baton twirling
Equipment grades: Pom pom, Ribbon, Wheel, Flag, Mace Once, Mace Two, Mace Major
