Rotary Club of Lowestoft East Point

Lowestoft East Point Rotary Club is a very active club providing a service to the community in the Lowestoft area and worldwide, whilst maintaining strong friendships and networking amongst its members. We meet Tuesday 18.00 for 18.30 Hotel Victoria Lowestoft.

We want to keep refreshing our ideas and how we operate as a club but very much part of the Rotary family

o   We also would like to expand on the service that we provide for the community. In order to do all this we need to continually welcome new members.

o   Rotary should be fun and we welcome 'Friends of Rotary' to join us. Rotary can offer Teamwork, Fun and Friendship, Leadership, Networking, Mentoring and Responsibility

We are a mixed gender Club, currently having over 30 members.  We need to continually welcome new members and volunteers to enable Rotary to do good works in the Community. Please contact us if you are interested in knowing about our club and we are a non profit making Charity organisation.

Our membership has grown steadily to the present number and we would like to maintain an active (that is people making a positive contribution) membership
Our members join because they want to give something back to the community through some form of service and to enjoy the social side. Their partners often attend social events and help in some of the fundraising activities.

We usually have at least one Club trip each year when we spend two or three days together away in Europe or in the UK. We meet weekly at 6pm for 6.30pm at the Hotel Victoria on the Lowestoft sea front.

We enjoy a meal together and then either have some form of fellowship event or hear from a speaker on an interesting topic. This can be about something of general interest eg. a concorde pilot or the Chief Constable, or it can be someone from a particular cause which we are thinking of supporting either practically or financially.
On the practical side we are currently involved in Dictionaries 4 life, a project to give every year six pupil in Lowestoft a dictionary. Some of our members are actively involved in Waveney Sailability which provides opportunities for disabled people to participate on equal terms in the sport of sailing by the operation of a fleet of specially adapted dinghies on Oulton Broad. Our current fundraising events include an annual sponsored Family Charity Cycle Ride.

It's no good joining Rotary to be a spectator. Whilst active involvement in any one event or meeting is voluntary, every member must make a commitment to participate in the majority of meetings and events. Through this Rotary benefits and so does the individual member.  We welcome 'Friends of Rotary' who are volunteers but equally we encourage volunteers to become members

We also welcome  Friends of Rotary who are volunteers willing to help on projects or fundraising activities . So if you haven't the time to join us as a member on a regular commitment then being a friend is just so rewarding.  We are Hands-on volunteering, fundraising, organising challenge events, sharing our professional skills to help local charities develop – these are just some of the activities we get involved in – as well as having fun while we’re doing it!

Rotary International Presidential Citation 2017/18

President Paul Tabiner would like us to embrace this year's Rotary Theme of “Making a Difference”. With this in mind and because we will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary at the end of this coming year, I would like us to commit to going for a Rotary International Presidential Citation.

These Citations have been around for a few years and I think it would be a fitting part of our 20th celebrations if we were to be awarded such recognition. To achieve a citation we will have to achieve a range of goals which cover strengthening the Club, humanitarian service and public image and awareness. So far the Club is performing well in achieving the goals.
