National Literacy Trust

General Details

We are an independent charity working with schools and communities to give disadvantaged children the literacy skills to succeed in life. We do this by supporting those who struggle with literacy and the people who work with them. Because low literacy is intergenerational, we focus our work on families, young people and children.

The National Literacy Trust provides resources, training, networks and support for professionals. Our Words for Life website provides ideas, resources and tips to help parents in their unique role supporting their children's speech, reading and writing skills.
