Norton Pre-School operates from purpose built premises next to Norton Village hall with access to a large car parking area. The Pre School was originally established in the 1970s & has been running successfully ever since. We are Ofsted registered. Our aim at the Pre School is to offer a warm & caring environment where your child will learn & develop through play, with the support of well-qualified & caring staff. All staff, committee members and volunteers are DBS checked. Our team are well qualified and experienced and are always keen to continue with their professional development. We have a large outside area with a soft play, grass, flower & planting area, large canopy for use all year round. We also take the children on visits within the village & further a field & have regular visitors to the Pre School throughout the year. We offer a fully inclusive environment & aim to ensure that all children are given every opportunity to develop to their full potential. Where children have additional needs the Pre School will work with their parents/carers & outside agencies such as portage, speech therapists to ensure that their needs are met. We take a positive approach to behaviour & set fair & consistent boundaries so all children feel safe & secure. We give praise to children who are behaving positively & support & understanding to children who need help to stay within the pre school boundaries. We have close links with Norton Primary School. We attend assemblies & special events throughout the year & have regular meetings with the reception teacher. Norton Primary School children may attend the breakfast and After School club. We welcome visits to our pre school. Our aim at Norton Pre-School is for our children to have fun while learning. In an environment that they feel happy in, with friends that they can share their experiences with and with staff that care, keep them safe and secure, whilst also helping them to become independent, self secure and ready to move on to their next step in their education. Also to work with their parents and carers in partnership to ensure that the child can achieve to their full potential.

Support for people with disabilities

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

At Norton Pre-School we aim to provide high quality care and education for all children that attend, by meeting their individual needs.  Adapting our Pre-School where possible to accommodate all children so that they can reach their full potential.  We work in partnership with parents and other agencies to ensure that the children who attend the Pre-School with SEND are able to participate in all activities and where this is not possible due to additional equipment or adaptation of our Pre-School we will endeavour to find funding to make this possible if we can.

Our staff are well qualified and very experienced, updating qualifications and their professional development regularly. Where additional training is recognised for children with SEND we ensure that as many staff as possible can attend.

Our SENCO will work in partnerships with the child and their family and at transition times such as starting a new setting or transfer to Primary School our SENCO will liasie closely with the practitioners or teacher to help provide a smooth transition.
