    The Stay Alive app is a suicide prevention resource for the UK, packed full of useful information and tools to help you stay safe in crisis. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide.

    In addition to the resources, the app includes a safety plan, customisable reasons for living, and a LifeBox. Here you can store photos and memories that are important to you.

    You can also read the strategies for staying safe or explore the tips on how to stay grounded when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Try the guided-breathing exercises, and support your wellness by creating your own interactive Wellness Plan.

    We believe there’s no shame in reaching out for help if you are feeling stressed, depressed or experiencing suicidal crisis in some form. If you’re not sure of who to reach out to in your community and don’t want to download the app, some of the contacts on our “Find Help Now” pages could help. People who care are ready to help you right now.

    Private Counselling

    People seek counselling for a variety of reasons. You do not have to be in crisis to choose to have counselling, you may just be experiencing feelings of dissatisfaction with life. Sometimes people are clear about what is troubling them but just need support and clarity to help them through a difficult period, on other occasion’s people recognise that they keep repeating the same destructive patterns in life and are keen to explore the contributing factors in therapy.

    Whatever your concern counselling offers you the opportunity to discuss your feelings freely with a trained therapist in a safe, non judgemental, confidential setting.

    Counselling offers face-to-face sessions either on a long term or short term basis. A therapy session is a time set aside on agreed date at an agreed place, usually

    weekly and sessions last for 60 minutes.  Private Fee: £45.00 per hour.

    In your first session you will have the opportunity to explain why you have come to counselling at this particular time in your life and to ask questions about how counselling can support you in your current difficulties.

    We have counsellors experienced in the following areas;

    • Anxiety
    • Depression
    • Bereavement/Loss
    • Childhood Abuse

    SANE provides emotional support, guidance and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including families, friends and carers.

    Our mental health support services are confidential. We offer non-judgemental and compassionate emotional support. Our team of mental health professionals and trained volunteers create a space where you feel safe to talk about things that are most affecting you. We also make time so we can think together about the options available to you.

    Our work has three key elements. Each one is designed to address the most fundamental challenges faced by those affected by mental illness: the lack of support in a crisis; challenges with navigating the mental health system and accessing the right ongoing support; and social isolation.
